There is a legal duty to ensure that all staff receive suitable training on equipment within their workplace, including medical gas cylinders handled and used by Portering and Nursing staff. It is important to remember that these apparently simple devices are pressure vessels containing certified medicines.
A number of serious incidents in which staff have been injured has raised awareness of the need for training designed to ensure safe working practices.
To meet this need we offer a three hour training session for Portering and Nursing staff that complies with the training provision requirements of HTM 02-01 and involves practical work in the safe use and handling of medical gas cylinders.
